Yellow Ledbetter – Pearl Jam

The song Yellow Ledbetter is a great song that was cut from the album Ten, but later showed up on the album Lost Dogs. This live version is my favourite version of the song though.

I don’t know where it’s from but it’s a really soft version, with Eddie Vedders voice almost [...]

When The Night Feels My Song – Bedouin Soundclash

Pop reggae/ska from Canadian Bedouin Soundclash.

Spotify.

Next Year – Foo Fighters

This song always makes me think of a warm late summer evening with the pale yellow sun light gently warming your face while making the roads shine and lakes sparkle. The slow guitar really sets the tempo low for this song, but it is still quite energetic and promise of exciting things to happen.

Den Ena Handen Vet Vad Den Andra Gör – Blå Tåget

Briljant progg.

Vara Vänner – Jakob Hellman

Jakob Hellman had a brief life in the limelight in Sweden at the end of the 1980’s with his 2 hits from the album “…Och det stora blå”, with Vara Vänner (would translate to Be Friends) being one of the hits. Vara Vänner is a song about a guy who’s having more feelings for a [...]

Ifrån mig själv – Dundertåget

Dunder Tåget is a new Swedish band rising in The Great Hellacopters Wake. The singer, Robert Dahlquist, actually played guitar in the Hellacopters, but now he has also taken on the singer and songwriter roles. He does it really well too. The songs, which are written by Robert together with singer/songwriter Stefan Sundström, actually sound [...]

Have A Cigar – Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd, a band with such an incredible and amazing mystique. It must have been excellent to be a part of that music scene. I wonder what the likes are in todays music. What current bands could possibly be as musically brilliant, be so creative and psycadelic, and still make a huge following and fantastic [...]

Kilometer – Sebastien Tellier

My interest in Sebastien Tellier has been reignited since I saw him live at Debaser Medis in Stockholm a couple of days ago. So today I’m picking a song of his that’s been going under my music radar until the live performance. The song is Kilometer. That’s all I know about it. Check it out [...]

L’Via L’Viaquez – The Mars Volta

Mars Volta was named “Best Prog-Rock Band” by The Rolling Stones magazine in 2008. I haven’t listened a lot to them yet but I love their song L’Via L’Viaquez. It exists in a number of versions, with the album version being more than 12 minutes long and featuring 3 guitar solos and at least one piano [...]

Poupée de cire, poupée de son – France Gall

Yesterday I was reminded of the song Poupée de cire, poupée de son performed brilliantly at the ESC 1965 by France Gall. The song is written by Serge Gainsbourg and is about how young pop stars sing about love and loss and situations they’ve barely experienced themselves.
